While working a government job, Father Howell woke
up one morning and thought, “How can I get a job where I work less?” Of
course, the ministry sprang instantly to mind. “Only one day
a week,” he thought, “and that’s a half day.” Upon
enrolling in his first homelitics course, Father Howell was shocked
to learn that many hours that could be pleasantly spent reading or
attending baseball games would be consumed by sermon preparation. Relying
on research, prayer, old jokes, half-remembered sermons from childhood,
and the Holy Spirit, these sermons attempt to explore the sacred Scriptures
and apply them to our lives as a community and as individuals.
Note:
Most of the sermons referenced in the menu to the left and the archive
below were written and preached by Fr. Chuck.
We now are blessed by the presence of the Rev. Deacon Geri Ann Swanson.
Deacon Geri's sermons will be identified as such. Also, between
September of 2007 and May of 2010, we had the Rev. Dr. David Carletta
(a seminarian from General) here at Christ Church, and he was invited
to deliver several sermons during that time. David's sermons are identified. |
